*~*~ Sizing Charts ~*~*

Not all dress designers use the same measurement ranges when sizing their dresses. Please check all measurements carefully prior to ordering.

                            How to Measure

The Bust Measurement is taken around the fullest part of the chest. Make sure you keep the tape straight.

The Waist Measurement is taken at the natural waistline; this is the area between the belly button and the bottom of the rib cage. Bend to one side to find your natural waistline, then standing straight ensure the tape fits comfortably around your waist.

The Hip Measurement is taken around the fullest part of the buttocks. Keep the tape straight when measuring!

The Girth/Torso Measurement is taken from the center of the shoulder, down the fullest part of the chest, through the crotch and then up the back to the starting point. You should make a complete loop around the torso. Make sure you keep the tape tight and not twisted.  Stance should be straight up but shoulders relaxed, feet shoulder distance apart, toes straight ahead.

The Sleeve Measurement is taken from the shoulder to the wrist. Can also specify the length from under the arm to the wrist. Make sure you account for when you lift your arms above your head.

The Skirt Measurement is taken from the hip bone level down to the lowest point of the skirt. Remember most skirt styles have the longest point of the skirt in the front/back as sides are usually shorter. Some synchro teams are at mid-thigh, some above, at or below the knee-personal choice. Usually with synchro dresses you want each skater to have the same length skirt and that can only be achieved by measuring down the leg to where you want the longest point of the skirt to be in the front. Look at the example of skirt below.  You see the sides are tapered so the longest length is at the center back as most skirts styles are a bit longer in back than front . To get your desired measurement, locate the hipbone of each girl and measure down the leg to that point you want the skirt to be at its longest in the front.

Note:  VERY important for you to take these measurements wearing a form fitting garment.  DO NOT pull the tape too tight or add inches onto measurements as this will not be accurate!  DO NOT do measurements on yourself, get someone else to measure you.

When measuring girth if longer than 60" and your tape measure runs out DO NOT guess the additional inches. Get a tape longer than 60" or tape another one to the end of your existing tape

For best accuracy, use a fabric/vinyl tape which you can pick up for less than $2.00.  GIRTH (torso circumference) is the MOST IMPORTANT measurement of the four, if this is not correct , the dress will not fit.

Types of Fit

Competition fit means the dress is made smaller than the actual measurements to fit tight to the body, no room for expansion, dress stretches to fit the body snugly. It is the type of fit skaters will usually choose who are involved in higher level skating or who are finished growing.

Comfort fit: there is room for growth because dress is made to exact measurements and material will stretch a bit with growth of the child.

Growing room: dress is made a little larger, usually 1/2-1 inch everywhere so there is more room to grow with both the measurements and the material stretch.

**Note if ordering an In-stock Dress:  If your measurements are close to the maximum range in more than one measurement, I suggest you select the next larger size. If in doubt, send your measurements and  will check against the dress your are interested in to ensure the fit will be good. Save yourself from disappointment and postage cost!

The dress brand "Flying Camel" has the tendency to run a size smaller than the tag size so please check the measurements carefully in each dress description.

Mondor brand also tends to run small. Please check the apparel chart below for their suggested size ranges.

GK Elite Apparel

Select the row of measurements that best represents your size. If all your measurements do not fall within the same row, use the row that best represents your largest measurements. Please note: the torso measurement is the most important measurement followed by the chest and hip measurements; the least important measurement is the waist.
